This custom home, on a 30-foot-wide lot in the coveted North Center Neighborhood, was designed for a large family coming back to the city from the suburbs.
The plan maximizes the lot width in a 5,000 square-foot house with five bedrooms, three full and two half-baths organized on four levels. Two bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths and a large family room are located in the finished basement. The first floor is dedicated to a formal living-dining room and spacious kitchen and great room. The second floor contains the master suite as well as two additional bedrooms with a shared bath. Interior stairs connect the second floor to a third floor study and attic, both with walk-out access to a private rooftop deck.
This disciplined masonry façade includes classical elements, cut limestone accents and a Palladian window set in a gable end framing to a metal mansard roof. The façade is accentuated with alternating brick and limestone quoins on a rusticated limestone base. The entry pavilion features a Roman Doric portico over cascading limestone stairs. The side and rear are finished in complementary utility brick.
Completion is scheduled for early 2007.
